Shaw Galleries provides an easy, inexpensive means of obtaining concise appraisals or estimates of an object’s current market value when you bring your item(s) into our shop.

All for a low $25 Valuation Fee!

This simple appraisal or valuation is intended to give a reasonable estimate of the replacement value of the work and also to estimate what price it might fetch at auction based on its description. 

For most collectors, the price estimate and appraisal information provided with this service is all they need to know to understand the value of their painting, print or antique. The Certificate of Valuation provided can aid you greatly in determining what you can sell, consign or trade the items for. 

NOTE: Though Mr. Shaw is in the gallery every Wednesday and Friday, as well as most Saturdays, calling ahead to make an appointment for this service is strongly encouraged.

A Certified Member of both International Fine Art Appraisers (IFAA) and Palm Beach Appraisers Association (PBAA), Gallery Principal Kurt Shaw evaluates a work of art, antique and/or object of historical importance by sourcing past and current art and antique auction records for comparable items, comparing current market prices within a dealer network, as well as by using the gallery’s own extensive art and antique library resources.

Over the past decade Mr. Shaw has appraised thousands of art and and antique objects for numerous clients both private and public, including such notable clients as Dollar Bank, The National Football League Alumni Association, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Saint Vincent College and Wesley Glen Retirement Community, to name just a few.
